If a Greek person finds out that you like something you are going to get it as a gift from there on out forever.
Ms used to buy my cousin Bennington pottery dishes and she has a huge collection at her house. One day, while I was over at my cousin’s house for her birthday, I made a comment about how much I loved the fun designs of the pottery and patterns in front of my Thea. They're so pretty. Ever since then for every holiday my Thea has gotten me Bennington pottery of some sort.

When my husband and I were looking at selling our home, my collection was one thing that got packed up to go into storage (AKA our guest room) and I haven’t used any of it since. For Christmas this year I hit the Bennington jackpot. Thea Susan got me a heart shaped plate, 2 mugs, and a heart shaped bowl. When I got home I unpacked them and set them up on my counter and then looked at them for a couple of days.
When I was a kid my dad used to make me this Greek soup called Avgolemono. I call it chicken noodle soup with rice. I made a big batch the other day because it is cold and rainy in Htown this week and it is my favorite cold weather soup.
As I went digging through my cabinet in search of a bowl, to heat some up today, I decided instead to use my new, gorgeous baby blue and white heart shaped Bennington pottery bowl, because, why not?
It’s not fancy china, I mean, FFS, they’re dishwasher safe and microwave safe. It’s not like I have to handwash in 75 degree water with green Dawn dish soap only…. They’re literally the easiest bowls in the world. But I was waiting for a reason, or a celebration, or some excuse to use them.
Life is too short to wait around to do the things you want to do, especially if they are easy. Use the fancy face cream you got as a sample from Nordstrom. I’m so guilty of this you guys, I’m always like, “oh, I’ll save that for a week before that big event” and then I forget and it never gets used. Instead of sitting down and writing out a list of reasons why you should wait to do something or what you are waiting for, GRAB LIFE by the horns and just do it. You’ll save a ton of time acting vs waiting, and eventually it will become a habit.
You don’t need to wait for girl’s night to pop that bottle of champagne.
So often we get stuck on saving things for “a special occasion”, but you guys, LIFE is a special occasion, every day that you wake up alive and healthy is, and even if you’re not feeling amazing and ready to take on the world, if you find things to celebrate it will shift your whole mood and your whole life.
It’s so easy to get stuck on what isn’t going right, but I guarantee that if you look hard enough you can find a plethora of things to be obsessively grateful for every day. Today, I celebrated sleeping in, an amazing workout, and mostly the fact that someone loves me and cares about me enough to remember the little things that bring me joy.
I am done saving the finer things “for when I have something to celebrate”. I have so much I am grateful for and I can promise you, the fact that you’re reading this post, probably on a smartphone or a computer, means that you probably have some awesome stuff going on in your life. Even if everything isn’t maybe not going 100% to plan.
I want you guys to start living like you would only wake up tomorrow with everything that you were thankful for today. I want you to find reasons to celebrate. It’s wayyyy more fun than being an anxious, stressed out hot ass mess that worries about everything and finds reasons NOT to do things that will bring you joy.
What are 3 things you can be obsessively grateful for and celebrate today? Leave me a comment below or send me a DM on Instagram or Facebook @jaiscurry and let me know! I’d love to hear from you.
