If a Greek person finds out that you like something you are going to get it as a gift from there on out forever.

Ms used to buy my cousin Bennington pottery dishes and she has a huge collection at her house. One day, while I was over at my cousin’s house for her birthday, I made a comment about how much I loved the fun designs of the pottery and patterns in front of my Thea. They're so pretty. Ever since then for every holiday my Thea has gotten me Bennington pottery of some sort.

When my husband and I were looking at selling our home, my collection was one thing that got packed up to go into storage (AKA our guest room) and I haven’t used any of it since. For Christmas this year I hit the Bennington jackpot. Thea Susan got me a heart shaped plate, 2 mugs, and a heart shaped bowl. When I got home I unpacked them and set them up on my counter and then looked at them for a couple of days.

When I was a kid my dad used to make me this Greek soup called Avgolemono. I call it chicken noodle soup with rice. I made a big batch the other day because it is cold and rainy in Htown this week and it is my favorite cold weather soup.

As I went digging through my cabinet in search of a bowl, to heat some up today, I decided instead to use my new, gorgeous baby blue and white heart shaped Bennington pottery bowl, because, why not?

It’s not fancy china, I mean, FFS, they’re dishwasher safe and microwave safe. It’s not like I have to handwash in 75 degree water with green Dawn dish soap only…. They’re literally the easiest bowls in the world. But I was waiting for a reason, or a celebration, or some excuse to use them.

Life is too short to wait around to do the things you want to do, especially if they are easy. Use the fancy face cream you got as a sample from Nordstrom. I’m so guilty of this you guys, I’m always like, “oh, I’ll save that for a week before that big event” and then I forget and it never gets used. Instead of sitting down and writing out a list of reasons why you should wait to do something or what you are waiting for, GRAB LIFE by the horns and just do it. You’ll save a ton of time acting vs waiting, and eventually it will become a habit.

You don’t need to wait for girl’s night to pop that bottle of champagne.

So often we get stuck on saving things for “a special occasion”, but you guys, LIFE is a special occasion, every day that you wake up alive and healthy is, and even if you’re not feeling amazing and ready to take on the world, if you find things to celebrate it will shift your whole mood and your whole life.

It’s so easy to get stuck on what isn’t going right, but I guarantee that if you look hard enough you can find a plethora of things to be obsessively grateful for every day. Today, I celebrated sleeping in, an amazing workout, and mostly the fact that someone loves me and cares about me enough to remember the little things that bring me joy.

I am done saving the finer things “for when I have something to celebrate”. I have so much I am grateful for and I can promise you, the fact that you’re reading this post, probably on a smartphone or a computer, means that you probably have some awesome stuff going on in your life. Even if everything isn’t maybe not going 100% to plan.

I want you guys to start living like you would only wake up tomorrow with everything that you were thankful for today. I want you to find reasons to celebrate. It’s wayyyy more fun than being an anxious, stressed out hot ass mess that worries about everything and finds reasons NOT to do things that will bring you joy.

What are 3 things you can be obsessively grateful for and celebrate today? Leave me a comment below or send me a DM on Instagram or Facebook @jaiscurry and let me know! I’d love to hear from you.

You aren't lazy, you just want to be perfect (and how to overcome this)

It's a classic story: girl is amazing at imagining her dream life and plans how to take over the world, comes up with plans for how to achieve what she wants, fool-proofs those plans, and when it is time to act she says, "Nah, I'll do that tomorrow," and begins a Netflix binge for the third time this week. Has this ever been you?

Most times, the problem isn't Netflix, or your lack of motivation, or any of that BS you've been beating yourself up about since you were supposed to write that blog post or reach out to your dream client to follow up about a package you were discussing. It's fear.

It doesn't always feel like fear. Subconsciously, we come up with things we would rather do than make steps to get where we want to be because we fear that maybe we aren't good enough to be there. We fear that we will be judged for something that we are passionate about. We fear that our work may not be perfect and that we might be criticized. And it is a vicious cycle: you plan, don't do, beat yourself up (which brings your confidence down even more), get inspired, plan some more, go to act again, clean the house/scroll mindlessly on Facebook/binge watch every season of Parks and Rec on Netflix, and you're right back where you started, with nothing done and lots of wasted time. And why? Because you're scared of what people may think of your success or are comfortable playing small?

“We are so scared of being judged that we look for every excuse to procrastinate.” -Erica Jong

You know that thing you really want but have been putting off making moves to get?

Get over yourself and just DO THE THINGS. ✨✨

Seriously.

Most people won't notice. Most people won't care. Some people may criticize you but guess what, that is oftentimes more about them than it is you (that's a whole other post). Life isn't a quiz in school, there is no A+ on it and no right way to do things. Don't let your fear paralyze you, or you will never ever grow. You deserve the good stuff. You're strong and smart and capable and deserve to have amazing things in your life. But amazing things don't just HAPPEN to you. You have to do the work.

How? Take action when you're inspired. Even if you don't know what the eff you're doing. Even if it's going to be messy. Especially if it's messy, because that's where you learn.

What's the worst that is going to happen? Oh, you might hear the word "no"? That's okay, it's not like they can take away your birthday!

Last week I messaged a company I really wanted to work with. I had been stalking their website looking for affiliate info for days and they didn't have it. I told myself they just didn't have a program and I was crazy and I told my friends to buy the product anyways because I believed in it. Five people did. FIVE. That's five sales I missed commission on because I was scared. I'm not kicking myself though because I heard back almost instantly and I'm the newest affiliate.

It NEVER hurts to ask. What are you missing out on by not being brave?

The Be Productive Retreat is coming soon to my group with some big tips on how to stop procrastinating! Request access here.
